Class Description

This fun and energetic class will combine vocal training with acting techniques using acting games, improvisation and character work help you give convincing and moving musical theater performances.  Choose to work on one solo or duet from the beautiful selections of Stephen Sondheim. This will be a supportive, open and friendly environment to build your confidence for any performance. The final class will culminate in a showcase with selections form Stephen Sondheim's, Into the Woods, giving you the chance to put what you have learned into practice and share your progress!


Carmen Brown

Carmen Renee Brown is a native of Colorado Springs and enjoys the outdoors with her wonderful husband, three precious children, and one ornery dog! Carmen has been passionate about the performing arts since she was in elementary school and decided to continue that pursuit when she earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Northern Colorado. She has enjoyed sharing her skills and passion as a music director and a private voice teacher for 20 years and as a theater director for the last four years. She has also enjoyed many performance opportunities with Tin Roof Productions, Ballet Society, and The Madrigals at the Glen Eyrie Castle. Her favorite performance opportunity was taking Pride and Prejudice to the Jane Austen festival in Bath, England. She loves working with students and developing their talents and confidence and bringing glory to God through the performing arts!
