This class is full!
We are so excited to offer this CYT Lite show as a performance opportunity for 8-12-year-olds! This class will be fast-paced and packed with learning as the students work to perform the 30 min show, Aristocats Kids. Class time will function as the only rehearsal time the students have so we have extended the times to 5:15 pm-7:45 pm. Auditions will be low stress and done within the class. There are no parent committee requirements although we will ask for volunteers to help with concessions and tech for the performances or any other needs that come up. This production will use simple costumes like we have used in our Show in a Week summer camps with items brought from home and simple sets and props in order to highlight the students.
The students will perform two, 30-minute shows on Saturday, October 21st. They will also perform a quick snapshot from the show at our class showcase on October 24th. Our goal with this class is to give our amazing students a chance to shine on stage with more opportunities than the fall show, High School Musical, could offer them. To allow them to fully commit to their roles in Aristocats Kids, students who choose this class will not be allowed to audition for High School Musical. We are looking forward to getting started on this CYT Lite show and hope you are excited to join us! This class is $300 to cover the extra class time and production fee due to the licensing costs for this Disney show.
Amelia Kirk was born and raised in Colorado. She started performing in the Douglas County Children's Chorus, and ended up performing all over the world in choirs and bands. She has also performed in many musicals and operas, which instilled in her a love for theater. Amelia is currently a K-12 music/theater teacher at Home School Academy in District 20. She recently started a High School Musical Theater Program there and the students performed Cinderella. Before moving to Colorado Springs she taught choir at Northglenn High School and had a voice and piano lesson studio. Amelia loves seeing children learn and develop new skills and is excited to join CYT!
Becca Bishop is originally from Birmingham, Alabama. She is trained in various types of dance including Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Contemporary, and Modern. She primarily trained at Birmingham Dance Theater in her youth, traveling and performing with their competition team. She is always thrilled for the chance to instruct other performers on how to grow in their movement, technique and performance, and to help them learn what God has called them to do with their gifts and talents.
