CYT's Cultivate Music Academy

Cultivate Music piano and vocal classes are weekly, 50 minute, small group classes with 2-8 students. These classes will provide the consistency of private lessons at an affordable price in an encouraging environment.
We are trying to keep our prices at the very lowest possible so everyone can have quality instruction. We also have an income based sliding scale for tuition. See below for more information.  
*There must be at least 2 students registered for a class in order for the class to run.

We will add classes throughout the year as we have interested students. If you want to take piano, voice, or Music for Tots and the times above don't work for you, pleas let us know I we can try to set up a class at  a time that fits your schedule. Registration cost:
For Cultivate Music classes, you will pay the initial materials fee (varies by class) and spring recital fee ($30) in order to register and hold your place. 
Then you will receive a link to set up autopay to pay monthly for the lessons.
Cultivate Music lessons will run September 1-April 30, with a May recital- date TBD

Christmas- Dec. 22-Jan. 2
Spring- March 23-27

Monthly Tuition:
There are 15 weeks in the fall semester  (Monday classes will have 14) & 16 weeks in the spring semester
Tuition will be charged at $30 per lesson minus one as a built in weather day.
The total charge will be divided over 8 months and be paid September through April.
30 weeks of lessons =$900
$900/8 months = $112.50 monthly ($108.75 for Monday classes)

*** Music for Tots tuition is $25 per class = $93.75 per month

*Please note that registration in Cultivate Music or Dance Classes does not make a student eligible to audition for CYT shows.
 

Income Based Sliding Tuition Scale

As a non profit, CYT desires to have as many students as possible to be able to participate. Because of this, our Cultivate programs will have a sliding tuition scale based on income and number of family members in the household. Current Teachers:

Amelia Kirk

Amelia Kirk was born and raised in Colorado. She started performing in the Douglas County Children's Chorus, and ended up performing all over the world in choirs and bands. She has also performed in many musicals and operas, which instilled in her a love for theater. Amelia is currently a K-12 music/theater teacher at Home School Academy in District 20. She directs a High School Musical Theater Program there and the students are performing Willy Wonka in the spring. Before moving to Colorado Springs she taught choir at Northglenn High School and had a voice and piano lesson studio. Amelia loves seeing children learn and develop new skills and is excited to join CYT!


Jessie Doyle

Jessie Doyle is originally from Boston, Massachusetts. She received her bachelor’s in music with a focus is music theory from Dickinson College and received her Masters degree in Music Education from Boston University. She is currently a music/musical theater teacher at the Home School Academy in Academy District 20. Her areas of expertise are vocals and viola, but she also loves playing the ukulele and piano as well as nerding out over music theory. She is so excited to start her journey teaching at CYT!


Jo Ellen Hubert

Jo Ellen Hubert began her piano studies at age 8 and at age 12 was accepted as a student of world famous performer and pedagogue Ruth Burr in Houston, Texas. As a teenager, Jo was a frequent soloist in the Houston area and also served as accompanist to the All-Region and All-State Choirs, the Houston A Cappella Chorus and accompanied many vocal and instrumental soloists. At 16 she conducted and played her first musical, "My Fair Lady". After High School Jo won a piano scholarship to the University of Texas. During her freshman year, she began to coach accompany graduate students working for their Masters and Doctorates, a position traditionally held by 3rd year students. She played French horn in the UT marching band. Jo was accepted to study at the prestigious Kodaly Pedagogical Institute Summer Seminar in Kesckemet, Hungary. At the close of the seminar, Jo was chosen from the 300 students to play the Final Concert with one other student. Jo has performed solo and duo piano recitals in Texas and Japan. She has performed with chamber groups throughout Texas in churches, schools, colleges and charity groups. While on staff at Blinn College and Lone Star College she was vocal coach and accompanist for their choirs. She has been featured with the Kingwood Chamber Orchestra as "harpsichord soloist". She served as accompanist for the Houston Children's Chorus and served as Conductor and Musical Director for Center Stage Theater. She is the inspiration and Founder of the Applause Theater Company which she successfully managed for 10 years and produced 45 Broadway Musicals with orchestra and composed the music for 3 original shows in collaboration with playwright Sharon Sheppard: CHARLOTTE'S WEB, WHILE CHILDHOOD SLEPT and JINX. Music from While Childhood Slept which was a musical about children In the Terezen concentration camp, was featured in the documentary THE PAPER CLIP PROJECTS released by Miramax. At Houston's Theater Under the Stars, second largest musical theater in the US, for 13 years Jo played all auditions, all rehearsals and every show during those years and hired the union orchestra members. She also played the Broadway Series that performed in Houston. Jo's private students are currently experiencing great success on Broadway and in the movie industry including Sadie Sink of Stranger Things and Trey Curtis who is in the role of Hamilton in the Broadway Production of Hamilton. Jo is looking forward to working with staff and students at the CYT Performing Arts Center!
