Cultivate poise and grace in our Ballet Foundations classes, specially designed for students who are in their early years of formal ballet training.  At Cultivate Performing Arts Academy, we proudly introduce dancers to the renowned Vaganova method adapted to the needs of our students.  In this foundational class, students will learn the core principles of classical ballet with a focus on proper alignment and muscle engagement while executing the fundamental par terre, barre and center exercises of Vaganova’s Year 1. Ballet classes within the Studio Program are designed for students who desire to be challenged in ballet but at a lower time commitment than our Conservatory. Foundations 2 classes include dancers who are 13-18 years old on August 1st, 2026.

Dancers wear a uniform leotard, pink tights*, matching canvas ballet slippers and a uniform skirt. (*or skin toned as appropriate with matching tights).

Ballet Foundations typically requires a minimum of two years of study before progressing to Intermediate. Dancers will perform in our Christmas Showcase (wearing uniforms) and Spring Production (wearing purchased costumes). The school year concludes with a required supportive and structured exam where students can celebrate their progress!

Ballet Foundations dancers are strongly encouraged to enroll in a second dance style in order to reach a minimum of 2 training hours per week. Dancers interested in pursuing Musical Theater more deeply should enroll in at least 3 dance styles per week.
