Take an important step in your classical journey in Conservatory 3, where second semester students will dance en pointe for the first time and begin their study of Vaganova’s level 2 syllabus. Due to the addition of pointe work, Conservatory 3 students must be at least 11 years old and demonstrate the necessary strength and skills prior to the start of the season, including both splits.
Conservatory 3 students attend classes three days a week which includes three ballet classes with par terre and prepointe work, eventually building towards their first pointe class. Students also continue to take one contemporary class and one repertoire class. In their repertoire class, students will delve deeper into small group and solo variations, refining performance quality and advancing their artistic interpretation. In addition to studying ballets, composers and dance history they will also explore anatomy and nutrition. All Conservatory class sizes are kept small to ensure a healthy, close-knit environment where each student can build a close relationship with their teacher and each other.
Dancers will perform in our Christmas Showcase (wearing uniforms) and Spring Production (wearing purchased costumes) as well as several other opportunities. Additionally, Conservatory 3 students have the option to participate in the Denver Ballet Guild and Esther Geoffrey competitions depending on their age.
The school year culminates with a supportive and structured exam to measure progress and determine advancement. Conservatory dancers are expected to maintain their training hours for a minimum of 6 weeks through the summer.
Conservatory classes are registered for the entire weekly requirements at one time. Registering for this class includes the following schedule:
- Mondays 6:00pm-8:00pm Par Terre and Ballet
- Thursdays 4:00pm-5:00pm Contemporary Intermediate 1
- Thursdays 6:00pm-8:00pm Par Terre and Ballet (adding Pointe)
- Saturdays 1:00pm-3:00pm Par Terre and Ballet
- Saturdays 3:00pm-4:00pm Repertoire
