Discover contemporary dance, a dynamic and expressive style that blends ballet’s technique and precision with the groundedness of modern and the emotions of lyrical. This class will introduce students to fundamental concepts of contemporary dance (such as dynamics and space) while building essential dance vocabulary and technique. Students will be introduced to foundational floor work and gain a deeper understanding of the use of their spine and core. This daytime class includes ages 9-18 on August 1st, 2026.
Contemporary Foundations features a two-year rotating curriculum, ensuring diverse learning experiences and continuous growth.
Dancers wear a uniform leotard, black biker style shorts, and a mix of bare feet and dance socks.
Dancers will perform in our Christmas Showcase (wearing uniforms) and Spring Production (wearing purchased costumes). The school year concludes with a required, supportive and structured exam where students can celebrate their progress!
Foundations Contemporary dancers are strongly encouraged to enroll in ballet. Ballet provides a main technical component of contemporary dance and will allow dancers to progress more quickly. Dancers interested in pursuing Musical Theater more deeply should enroll in at least 3 dance styles per week.
If is auditioning, at least 1 guardian must sign up for a Production Team. Please select your preferred choice, however your Production Team is subject to change.
