Lace up your tap shoes and get ready to make some noise! Our Tap Foundations dance classes are a lively and rhythmic exploration of the exciting world of tap. Foundations 1 is designed for dancers who are 9-12 years old on August 1st, 2026 and may turn 13 through the year.
Students will learn fundamental tap techniques focusing on tap vocabulary, rhythmic patterns, and precise footwork to create clear, percussive sounds. Our experienced instructors break down each step in an engaging environment with age appropriate music. Tap Foundations features a two-year rotating curriculum, ensuring dancers have the necessary foundations for future tap training while also learning new skills each year. The school year concludes with a required, supportive and structured exam where students can celebrate their progress!
Dancers wear a uniform leotard, black v-waisted jazz pants, and lace up tap shoes.
Dancers will perform in our Christmas Showcase (wearing uniforms) and Spring Production (wearing purchased costumes).
All Tap Foundations students are strongly encouraged to also take Jazz Foundations. In Musical Theater, tap and jazz are critical skills. By enrolling in both students can ensure their progress through our levels is consistent. Dancers who are interested in studying Musical Theater more deeply should consider enrolling in a minimum of three dance styles.
If is auditioning, at least 1 guardian must sign up for a Production Team. Please select your preferred choice, however your Production Team is subject to change.
